Human Resources Assistant (Temporary)


Reporting to the Director Human Resources, this position will be responsible for providing a broad range of human resource and administrative support to the department. This is a maternity leave position and will be approximately 6 months in duration. First preference will be given to those that have previous Workday experience



  • Participate in the full cycle recruiting process, ensuring the hiring process complies with Clark Builders’ policies and procedures, best practices and Employment Standards;
    • Applicant tracking system management (iCIMS)
    • Post job openings internally and externally;
    • Review, sort and shortlist resumes received;
    • Perform prescreen calls and reference checks for potential candidates;
    • Arrange, coordinate and eventually conduct interviews to ensure positions are filled in a timely and efficient manner;
    • Offer letter creation;
  • Act as main contact with recruitment agencies to ensure effective management and negotiation of terms & contracts;
  • Update and maintain assorted HR metrics such as headcounts, hire statistics, terminations;
  • Administer corporate benefits and RRSP program;
  • Manage on-boarding and orientation of new employees ensuring coordination with multiple departments;
  • Employee off boarding program;
  • Support in college recruiting which includes organizing and attending Career Fairs to attract top talent and foster relationships with educational institutions across Canada;
  • Some event planning required;
  • Provide general administrative support such as: creation of paper and electronic employee files, job descriptions, assignment letters, employment verification, financial tracking, filing and data entry;  
  • Support department initiatives & project work which may include: Best Employer in Canada survey, Succession & Progression, Performance Management;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Comfortable working independent or part of a team on projects;
  • Strong communication and writing skills;
  • Ability to work effectively and build strategic relationships with management and employees;
  • Proven ability to deal appropriately with confidently information and sensitive issues;
  • Proficient using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Power Point)
  • Proficient using Workday
  • Strong understanding of Human Resources legislation and best practices; 
  • Ability to multitask and make appropriate decisions under pressure while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively within a team environment.


 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in human resources or educational equivalent;
  • 3+ years of progressive administrative experience in commercial or industrial construction;
  • RPR designation considered an asset;
  • Experience in HR considered an asset.
